FATHER’s CAFE & BAKERY

DIRECTED BY GRANT KNAUS | 2024

capturing an expert baker in his element.

I am often drawn to craftsmen and their work. I envy artists who can create something with their hands that is tangible, and sharable.

Ken (founder of Father’s Cafe and Bakery) is not just a baker; he’s an artist. His baked goods are perfectly presented and full of complex flavors. He puts intention and love into every pastry.

This isn’t where his care and pursuit of excellence stops, though. He also is an incredibly kind soul and cares for each customer who walks through his shop.

These are some of the reasons I wanted to make a film about Ken, and what I sought to capture in this piece. It’s a short and heartfelt film about an expert baker with a heart for people.
